Forward thinking fashion: Baum und Pferdgarten SS/21 at Copenhagen Fashion Week

On the second evening of Copenhagen Fashion Week, Baum und Pferdgarten presented their Spring Summer 2021 collection ‘The Woman Who Fell to Earth’. A collection inspired by the iconic 70s movie ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’ where a futuristic David Bowie plays an alien that lands on Earth in search of a water to save his planet. Surreal and futuristic, feminine and forward thinking, Baum’s SS21 collection was a celebration of earth, nature and cosmic space.

Given the global pandemic, the show was held in the headquarters of Baum und Pferdgarten in Copenhagen on August 11 2020. It was a semi-digital, semi-physical event attended by some of the coolest Scandinavian fashionistas including Josefine Hanning Jensen, Mathilde Gøhler and Emili Sindlev. After the show, guests where invited to enjoy Prosecco and pizza while a live DJ set played in the beautiful courtyard.

The next day Bella Zofia and myself where presented the full collection Simone, who gracefully outlined the steady progression of the new collection. The drop starts in January 2021 and runs till late summer. Initially still quite somber, the collection begins with monochrome prints, almond colored knitwear, black silks and high-shine patent leather pieces. Then transitioning to blue pinstripes and monogrammed lavender prints through to green and yellow with pops of strawberry pink and coral. Crescendoing with my absolute favorite silk printed pieces featuring beautifully illustrated planets and stars. This was the key print at the heart of the collection. Encompassing both the surreal nature of David Bowie in “The Man Who Fell From Earth” and the femininity of the fabric. Indeed Baum und Pferdgarten released an AR filter in their Instagram account days after the show.

The head designers, Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave launched Baum und Pferdgarten in 1999 and still design each collection today. What is more they are moving towards making their brand sustainable.

Exemplified by the ‘UND Breathe‘ collection. This part of the collection will drop in 2021 on Earth Day. Each of the pieces from the collection are made from 100% GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard) organic cotton. Furthermore, 10 EUR from the purchase of each piece is donated to Green Transition Denmark, an NGO informs and educates international audiences on air pollution and climate change. The ‘UND Breathe’ collection is part of the brand’s ongoing efforts to become more sustainable.

5 Little-Known Facts About Cartier

With their long list of elite clientele ranging from royalty, celebrities to business tycoons, Cartier is synonymous with luxury, elegance and of course jewelry.

Here are a couple interesting facts about the French empire that was founded in 1847 by three brothers (Louis, Pierre and Jacques). Firstly, way back in 1917 Pierre travelled to New York and famously acquired 653 Fifth Avenue for two strands of the very finest pearls! It remains a flagship store of Cartier today. Whilst his brother, Louis, created some of the most iconic Cartier designs including the Mystery clocks, Tank and Santos watches.

Did you know that the Cartier Trinity rings were designed in 1924 by Jean Cocteau – the famous French painter and writer? The three interlocking rings made of different colors of gold is a Cartier classic. The three rings represent love, friendship and fidelity.

Another iconic design from Cartier is the ‘Love‘ bracelet. Created by Aldo Cipullo who joined Cartier, New York, in 1969. He also created the ‘Juste un Clou’. Both designs can be worn by women and men. Once in a place, the ´Love´ bracelet is not to be removed. Symbolizing eternal love ´locked’ in place. The design actually was inspired by chastity belts. It has been worn by many famous couples including Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton and Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw.

What is more, did you know that New York City hospitals keep Love screw drivers handy? The Love bracelet is so popular, that hospitals stock Love screw drivers in their wards so they can remove the bracelet from patients’ wrists during an emergency.

More recently, Cartier’s ‘Tutti Frutti‘ bracelet became the most expensive jewel ever sold in an online auction this April. It sold at Sotheby’s auction this year for $1,340,000! The Tutti-Frutti by Cartier is a design inspired by the third brother, Jacques’, first visit to India in 1911. Known as the ‘holy grail’ of jewelry – each piece is unique and features an explosion of colored stones in the same Mughal-cut.

Whilst Cartier’s latest high jewelry collection has just been released. Named ´[Sur]Naturel’ it has an almost Alice of Wonderland-style edge to it. A mesmerizing and bold collection inspired by nature that features diamonds, sapphires and emeralds.

Pierre Rainero, Cartier’s director of image, style and heritage, says that the ´[Sur]Naturel’ collection, “offers a form of escapism through nature and imagination in these uncertain times.”

10 things you didn’t know about Tiffany & Co.

T by Tiffany & co Anna Blachut

Late last October I was honored to be invited to discover The Tiffany T collection in the Tiffany & Co.’s Geneva boutique. The new Tiffany T collection features vibrantly colored inlaid stones— from turquoise, tiger’s eye, opal to black onyx. Each piece was breathtaking and the iconic T design was echoed throughout the rings, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces of the collection.

After this incredible experience, I wanted to share with you ten things interesting and little known facts about the incredible jewellery design brand Tiffany & Co.

Creativity, legacy and quality: Tiffany & Co., the world’s most iconic jeweler, was founded by two school friends Charles Lewis Tiffany and John B. Young in 1837 at 259 Broadway, New York. Initially they sold small fancy goods including stationary.

The distinctive Tiffany Blue color a patented Pantone 1837. The number is a references to the year of Tiffany’s foundation. It’s used for the Tiffany boxes, bags and all promotional materials. Tiffany’s blue color was inspired by the Empress Eugenie de Montijo (the wife of Napoleon III).

Did you know that Tiffany developed the silver standard for the USA? Back in 1851, Tiffany was the first American company to institute the 925/1000 sterling silver standard which was then adopted by the United States. To this day it is used as the silver standard. Talk about innovation.

That same year (1851), Tiffany & Co. started a long relationship with the watch house Patek Philippe located in Geneva, Switzerland. Indeed, Mr. Patek visited Tiffany’s in 1855, he left with an order for 129 watches.

Charles Lewis Tiffany, swiftly became known as “The King of Diamonds” in 1887 when he purchased one-third of the French Crown Jewels. That same year he acquired what is known today as The Tiffany Yellow Diamond. One of the largest yellow diamonds ever discovered. The 128.54 carat was acquired for $18,000. Worn last by Lady Gaga at the Oscars, it’s only ever been worn by two other women – Mary Whitehouse and Audrey Hepburn.

Audrey Hepburn wore it on the run up to the film release of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The Yellow Diamond was set in a Ribbon Rosette necklace designed by Jean Schlumberger.

An American symbol of elegance and style, Tiffany basically invented the engagement ring. Introducing the Tiffany setting in 1886 it features a raised solitaire diamond with a six–prong “Tiffany Setting“. The cut is still the world’s most popular engagement ring. My personal favorite is the Princess cut.

5 Fashion Facts about Fendi

Luxury Designer Focus

From it’s iconic FF logo to unforgettable fashion shows, my inner fashion geek wanted to share with you some interesting and lesser known aspects of the Italian luxury fashion empire. Here are five fun facts about Fendi.

Fendi Family

Established in 1925 by Adele and Edoardo Fendi, it was the 1st fur and handbag store in Via del Plebiscito in Rome. Their 5 daughters—Paola, Franca, Carla, Anna and Alda—carried on the legacy & modernized the production processes in 1946.

The FF Logo

In 1965 the late Karl Lagerfeld joined the Fendi family as the creative director. He created the iconic FF Logo, also known as the Zucca, or Double F. What’s more it took him less than 5 seconds to make it (FF stands for “Fun Fur”).

Fendi’s First It Bag

In the 90’s Silvia Venturini Fendi famously designed the small shoulder “Baguette” handbag. Thus was born the first “IT” bag. Which took the world by storm when worn by Carrie Bradshaw on Sex in the City. Since it launched in 1997, over a thousand versions of the Baguette handbag have been produced!

Like Dior, who brought back one of its cult Saddle Bag, Fendi revived the Baguette – the ultimate It bag. In 2019 Fendi house enlisted Sarah Jessica Parker to help give the bag a 2019 revamp. The #BaguetteFriendsForever campaign also included the German fashion influencer Caroline Daur as well as fashion models Natasha Lau, Ebonee Davis and Melissa Martinez. A tribute to the 90’s show and driving force behind many fashion purchases.

Fantastic Fashion Shows

Fendi are known to create sensational fashion shows. Milan Fashion Week is traditionally where Fendi’s fashion label holds their shows each season. However, their runway shows have gone beyond anyones wildest dreams. Hosting some of the most breathtakingly creative catwalks including their SS08 collection which took place on top of The Great Wall of China. It is the only fashion show in the world that was noted to be visible from the moon!

Another spectacular one was their #legendsandfairytales. A fashion show to celebrate the brand’s 90 Years Anniversary in 2016 which took place in the Fontana di Trevi in Rome. To honor the origins and birthplace of the brand. Opening with one of the Fendi’s fashion favorites: Kendall Jenner.

Logo Mania Reloaded

Fendi revived Logo mania with their FF Reloaded party in 2018. A secret event held in an underground London tunnel to celebrated the new logo. Designed for the millennial generation, the collection incorporated the logo print to limited edition pieces. Leonetta Luciano Fendi, fashion heiress and It girl is also the unofficial ambassador for the millennial collection.

Fendi Forever & Moving Forward

Karl Lagerfeld passed away in February 2019, and the FW20 was the final collaboration Karl Lagerfeld did with Sylvia Venturini Fendi. Fendi held a tribute fashion show in to honor Karl Lagerfeld in July 2019.

Their latest collection is an ode to craftsmanship. Applied to the iconic Fendi Peekaboo handbag with laser-cut details, interlaced leather to inlays – it is an hommage to Fendi’s impeccable design & workmanship.

3 Weekend outfit ideas: summer whites & zebra stripes with Nü Denmark

When it comes to off-duty days I tend to amp up the combination of colors and patterns in my outfits.

Weekends for me are when I really get to dress up and style outfits creatively. During the week I stay very sober – opting for black, beiges and grey tones. This is a tip my dad taught me when working in a corporate environment to dress neutral and professional. And I could not be more thankful as I really feel like my weekends are my fashion and style days. They are my chance to try out new trends and have fun with my wardrobe!

So as summer has slowly crept in, one of the big questions everyone had been asking is: what are the 3 key trends this summer 2020?

Well my top favorite ones are matching fashion sets, white embroidered dresses & zebra prints! What is more Nü Denmark’s SS20 collection encapsulates all three trends in modern and sophisticated manner.

I was lucky enough to discover this stylish brand through their Instagram. This Danish fashion brand embodies everything I adore about the classically cool girl Scandinavian style with a boho-chic twist. The quality is exceptionally good and each piece has that little something extra rendering it a straight up conversation piece.

So here are three summer looks featuring their beautiful new collection that I am currently wearing on my fashion weekends!

LOOK 1: SHOW YOUR STRIPES

First up, is this matching fashion set with zebra stripes. This Nü Denmark set is a combination of fun pleated details on the top and sport luxe finishes. What really caught my eye about this set was the multiplie shades that from afar makes the material look almost like it is reflective and sparkling! I paired it with a chunky gold necklace and strappy red sandals from NA-KD Fashion. Aping up the exotic luxury vibes by adding my silver Bvlgari Serpenti Forever bag from C•L•O•S•E•T Genève.

LOOK 2: ANIMAL INSTINCT

Wearing animal print from head to toe can be quite a daring look, so another alternative is wearing all one color and incorporating one statement piece like this pair of zebra print pants from Nü Denmark. It’s super lightweight so it’s perfect for a warm summer day. I layered gold necklaces from TOHUM and APM Monaco, adding a black blazer from NA-KD. Adding a pop of color with my red sandals from Hermès.

A summer style essential, white dresses are great for all occasions: a casual brunch, a garden party, at the beach or an evening dinner. Like a blank canvas you can dress it up or down to your heart’s content. This sheer midi dress from Nü Denmark with embroidered and fringed details is really versatile and can even be thrown on over a bikini before going to the beach. Here I wore it with bright tangerine toned sandals from Steve Madden, a playful sun hat and a cute pink Jacquemus bag.
