The famous Italian luxury house Prada is synonymous with pop culture, royalties and of course it-bags.
Founded by Mario Prada in 1913 and became famous for their fine leather bags. By 1919 the Milan store became recognized as an Official Supplier of the Italian Royal House. Miuccia Prada took over the family business of Prada in 1978. Today, Prada is known for it’s iconic it-bags. From the classic Galleria Saffiano to the Prada Cahier bag – to the more recent Re-Edition 2000 and 2005 Nylon models. Sporty and chic, the Prada nylon bags have made a serious comeback this year.
Indeed, the Nylon Prada Backpack is one of Prada’s most known and bought designs. It’s design made Miuccia Prada one of the 30 most powerful women according to the Wall Street Journal in the 80s.
She went on to launch the brand Miu Miu in 1993. A fun and young fashion line based on her own personal style. Miu Miu is in fact Miuccia’s childhood nickname. The fashion house is famous for their matelassé bags and cult platform heels. But did you know that the Prada Group also owns the two famous luxury footwear brands: Car Shoe and Church’s? They also own Pasticceria Marchesi and an art foundation Fondazione Prada.
